Lars beim World Team Cup...Nicht nur im Davis-Cup griff Lars Burgsmüller für Deutschland bereits zum Schläger, auch beim World Team Cup im Düsseldorfer Rochusclub spielte er bereits mit dem >schwarz-rot-goldenen Herzen< - um bei der ATP-Mannschafts-Weltmeisterschaft mit seinen Kollegen als Gastgeber ein Wörtchen mitzureden. Seit 2002 nahm Lars bislang zweimal an der beliebten Team-WM teil. Zwei von sechs Partien konnte Lars zu seinen Gunsten entscheiden. Hier seine aktuelle Matchbilanz:

From back court to fans' hearts... By Emma Quayle. THREE years ago, Tom Di Pasquale, his brother Sam and their mate Mark Ferrari were hanging around the back courts at Melbourne Park. They had been enjoying a few drinks when they decided they absolutely had to find their own player to cheer for, and stumbled across Lars Burgsmuller, a 28-year-old German ranked 103 in the world. He had been relegated, recalled Tom, to "court 26 or somewhere. We were the only ones there".
Since then, the phenomenon has grown, and membership of the Official Lars Burgsmuller Fan Club has swollen to eight, with Tom, Sam and Mark joined by Sam Carroll, Steve and Nick Brewer, Alex Benton and Guy Koldstein during the past two Australian Opens. The >Larsy Army< were out at qualifying last week, to watch Burgsmuller get through to the main draw, and watched him topple Rainer Schuettler on the opening day of the Open. The guys, who work together, would have been back on Friday, too, had Lars been able to upset the eighth seed, Gaston Gaudio.
"We would have quit our jobs to watch him," said Benton. "We were so excited leading up to the event. We kept tabs on Lars to make sure he would be here, and it felt like it was meant to be this year. We've never seen Lars win four games in a row before, so it doesn't matter, what happened today. It's all been very exciting." The group, which is contemplating launching an online range of Lars merchandise and scored tickets to sit in the player's box from Burgsmuller's coach, hopes to see a bit more of their man this year, with a trip to the soccer World Cup in Germany planned. "We're going to keep tabs on if he's playing any tournaments over there," Benton said. "We'll definitely email his coach and keep in touch. We might rock up to Roland Garros and support him there."
Burgsmuller would be happy to see their matching yellow (personally autographed) singlets in the stands again. "I love these guys," he said. "They're there all the time. They watch every point in every match. Everybody is asking me, 'Why do you have so many fans here?' It's the best. Everybody is jealous. They want these groups to start cheering for them, too."
